Square Enix has officially announced the launch date for its new NFT-powered game, Symbiogenesis, and is awarding NFTs to users who take part in the initial auction.
Square Enix initiated the minting and auction process in three distinct stages for its in-game Ethereum NFT characters. The rollout plan consists of a total of 500 unique characters for Chapter 1 of Symbiogenesis.
The majority of the 400 character NFTs for Chapter 1 will be available to users who were added to an allowlist during the Discord campaign on December 2–3. The NFTs in all three waves will be initially listed as free to claim; however, Square Enix will hold an auction for the character if several qualified users try to claim the NFT. A priority mint from November 30 to December 1 will give an additional 90 NFTs to top players who participated in the game’s official Discord server’s challenges.
In addition, those who bid at least 0.05 ETH will receive a “Member Card Red” NFT, which awards players with “additional points” when they log into Symbiogenesis. Anyone who places a bid will receive a free “special countdown illustration” NFT, with four versions available. It’s not yet confirmed if these NFTs will be minted on Polygon, the Ethereum scaling network, or on Ethereum itself.
Character Races in Chapter 1 of Symbiogenesis
A species that can reproduce readily and has advanced to the point where it can establish communities across the Floating Continent. Out of all the species, they have the biggest population. This race seems like the human counterpart race in the game.
The Spikes are a powerful and resilient race distinguished by their distinctive horns. They have good relations with the people of the Land of Salvation despite their aggressive nature. There is a claim that a country of spikes exists someplace on the Floating Continent.
Across the Floating Continent, merchants make their living by shipping and trading goods. They might have knowledge of other areas as they travel. On rare occasions, they might also partake in dishonest business.
Guards are a highly combative species with a mechanized portion of their body. They work as informants or bodyguards because they are not citizens of their own nation. They may serve as bodyguards for other races, keeping them safe from robbers and monsters while they travel.
The main story of Symbiogenesis starts with its protagonist Chroma the Guard meeting with Lambda. Lambda, also called the conservator, is the current leader of the Land of Salvation in the Floating Continent. Lamba has a son named Newt who has been acquainted with Chroma since childhood as well as one other character named Calyx. Calyx is the Knight Commander and Head of the Salvation Army. The game’s story is very promising and I definitely look forward to how the story and the characters will develop.
Famous for its Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts franchises, Square Enix has been engaging in the cryptocurrency market for a few years now between investments, NFT projects, and partnerships with existing NFT games like The Sandbox. Symbiogenesis is the company’s first NFT game further going in the same direction. Despite some criticism from people who view NFTs as just hype speculation, Square Enix is slowly showing its adaptability and innovation within the evolving field of blockchain and NFT technology.
