In a bid to accelerate blockchain education worldwide, Binance Academy and Blockchain Center have joined forces in a strategic partnership, launching a massive global initiative known as “The Global University Outreach Program.”
With ambitious goals, the program seeks to educate over a million students globally by 2026.
Expanding Horizons: A Global Education Initiative
The partnership between Binance Academy, the open-access blockchain and crypto learning hub of Binance, and the Blockchain Center, an international non-profit research laboratory dedicated to talent development in the blockchain industry, has resulted in a groundbreaking educational initiative.
The program, initially introduced in universities across Kazakhstan, is now set to go global, encompassing more than 200 universities in over 50 countries.
The primary focus is on integrating Web3 education into these institutions’ curricula, with a strong emphasis on blockchain engineering and compliance.
Empowering Educators and Students
One of the key objectives of this initiative is to provide specialized training to over 1,000 university educators, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide their students in the rapidly evolving world of blockchain technology.
Additionally, the program aims to create a comprehensive academic knowledge bank, which will facilitate the seamless integration of blockchain engineering and compliance courses into the existing educational programs of these universities. The ultimate target is to educate more than one million students by 2026, paving the way for a new generation of blockchain professionals.
Aidana Kaskyrbek, CEO and founder of the Blockchain Center, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating:
“Blockchain Center’s goal is to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology by stimulating the growth of human capital in the industry. We are proud of our groundbreaking educational initiative, which will significantly enhance talent development in the industry. The project offers a robust platform for aspiring professionals to explore, experiment, and innovate new solutions in the field.”
The Program’s Core Components: Blockchain Engineering and Compliance
The Global University Outreach Program comprises two major educational tracks:
The first, Blockchain Engineering, is a comprehensive 20-week course designed to introduce students to the fundamental aspects of distributed ledger technology. This track aims to empower learners with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as blockchain engineers. It covers a wide range of topics, including BNB Chain fundamentals, Web3, and Solidity development, providing a holistic understanding of blockchain development.
The second track, Blockchain Compliance, spans 13 weeks and focuses on understanding the intersection of blockchain and regulatory policy. This course delves into the intricacies of global regulatory frameworks, analyzes legal challenges, and offers insights into potential future governance models for digital assets.
Strategic University Selection Process
The process of selecting universities for this initiative involves a comprehensive methodology. This includes an assessment of each university’s engagement with blockchain technology and an evaluation of the supportive socio-economic framework for blockchain adoption. The selected universities span regions across Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, ensuring a diverse and global reach for the program.
Leveraging Binance Academy’s Global Network
Binance Academy, with its extensive network of educational institutions and educators across the globe, plays a pivotal role in expanding the Global University Outreach Program.
The academy aims to enhance the educational experience by facilitating guest lectures with industry experts and thought leaders, offering students valuable insights and perspectives from the forefront of the blockchain industry.
Yi He, co-founder of Binance, emphasized the transformative power of blockchain education, stating:
“In the rapidly changing world of digital finance, blockchain education is a key pillar for driving transformation. Through this educational initiative, Binance Academy and Blockchain Center will cultivate a new generation of skillful talents poised to propel our industry forward and ignite innovation. Let’s keep building.”
From Successful Pilot to Global Scale
The Global University Outreach Program builds upon a successful pilot program in Kazakhstan. In this initial phase, blockchain fundamentals were integrated into the curricula of 22 universities, making it the world’s largest academic initiative in blockchain. Over 300 educators received specialized training, and this fall, more than 4,000 Kazakhstani students embarked on their blockchain studies, marking a significant milestone in blockchain education.
