🟣 55% Javier Milei
🔵 44% Sergio Massa
The Argentinian election results are in, and Javier Milei, the pro-Bitcoin presidential candidate, has won. He took the lead at 55%, with his rival, Sergio Massa, coming in second with 44% of the votes and conceding defeat.
President-Elect Javier beat his opponent by over 2 million votes, alleviating doubts and reasons for run-offs.
Javier Milei fans flocked to the streets to celebrate, ripping up Argentinian Peso bills and using them as confetti. He wins the elections against a 143% y/y inflation that has left the nation’s citizens in utter poverty.
Javier received hostility from mainstream media severally for his conservative ideas and utter disdain for the leftist movements. They have compared him to other far-right conservative leaders, and many supporters on Twitter have christened him the ‘Trump of Argentina.’
Javier is an avowed libertarian and economist with the principles of Ron Paul and the attitude of Trump.
Bitcoin price shot up by +1.39% and exceeded $37,500 when the news broke out. The president-elect has been a vocal supporter of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies and has been quoted saying,
“With legal tender, they scam you with the inflationary tax… Bitcoin is the natural reaction against central bank scammers: to make money private again.”
The spike in the price of Bitcoin created a small demand and supply zone region that could set up the stage for the next move up to $37,700. Ultimately, this may be the good news the market needed to push up to $40,000.
